Addons Every Player Should Have

Midnight folded most old must-have addons into the base game, so the modern list is short. Here is what still matters - and what top players still add.

Midnight does most of it for you now

  • Built-in damage meter: Midnight ships a native damage and healing meter that is good enough to check your output, spot mistakes, and compare in your group - you no longer need a meter addon just to see numbers.
  • Built-in boss encounters: the game now shows on-screen callouts and timers for raid and dungeon mechanics, so a third-party boss mod (DBM or BigWigs) is optional, not mandatory.
  • WeakAuras is gone: its old job of tracking your procs, cooldowns, and buffs now lives in the improved default UI and Edit Mode, so there is nothing to import or build.

What the best players still add

  • Better Blizzplates: cleaner, threat-colored nameplates with cast bars and cooldown text on the Blizzard plate look - the one upgrade nearly every rank-1 Mythic+ and PvP player runs.
  • OmniCD: party and enemy defensive and utility cooldown tracking - the biggest information edge the base UI still does not give you, in both keys and arena.
  • Mythic Dungeon Tools: build and follow pull-by-pull routes when you are pushing keys.
  • Details! (optional): deep damage breakdowns and Warcraft Logs uploads if you want more than the built-in meter shows.

Set it up, do not just install

  • Turn on the in-game damage meter and boss encounter warnings in the options - they start off or minimal by default.
  • Use Edit Mode to place your health, resources, and cooldowns near the center where you actually look.
  • Position nameplate and cooldown addons in that same central zone, not off in a corner.

Keep it lean

  • You need fewer addons in Midnight than ever - do not reinstall your old thirty-addon pack out of habit.
  • Update your addons after each patch or they can break or feed you wrong information.
